My friend asked me to do some Christmas family photos. It was especially poignant since the two young people were engaged and about to be married in early January 2019. I took along my new strobe light with a beauty dish. The transmitter was made to pair with the strobe light. I thoroughly enjoyed capturing a family not only enjoying their Christmas celebration, but preparing to welcome their new daughter-in-law into the fold. I asked that I take a picture of their hands, which was met with skepticism, but it was ultimately a good decision as evidenced by the photo.
Christmas Family Photo Shoot
Christmas is the time for photo shoots, especially children in front of the Christmas tree. So, I asked a few people if they would be interested in having some Christmas photos of their family at West Town Community Church. So, on a very rainy day, a few families came over and sat for a number of photos. It was challenging corralling all the kids and getting the ideal shot where everyone looks good. Finally, I believe I had some success. Here are the results of my efforts–I’m pleased.
Thanksgiving at Grace House
I had a wonderful Thanksgiving 2018 at Grace House. The food was amazing, especially the Turkey, but most of all the company was superb. I took a few photos outside on the steps. All in all, although I didn’t spend the holiday with my biological family, it felt like family–and that’s what it is all about.
Woodrow Wilson House
I went to an Augusta Photo Festival class in October at the historic Woodrow Wilson House in Downtown Augusta, GA. It is basically the boyhood home of Woodrow Wilson. We had several people posing in period costumes for this shoot. We went from room to room taking photos of not only the people, but many of the fragile artifacts which we were not allowed to touch or move. Here are some of the photos that I took that day.
Arts in the Hearts Festival
Augusta, Georgia hosts a wonderful cultural festival each year featuring different foods from every culture and ethnic group you can think of. It is a celebration of diversity and people come together to sample different cuisines they would normally not eat. There are tents set up to eat and there is music as well. Here are a few shots of the day on October 16th, 2018. It threatened to rain the whole time but held off until towards the end. All in all it was a very enjoyable day.
Harley Davidson Luau
I was invited to attend the Harley Davidson Luau, Friday, August 3rd 2018. It was a fun time and I got a chance to take photos of the festivities, including Hawaiian dancers, the patrons, and of course the real stars–the motorcycles. They roasted a whole hog in the ground and with the music, a wonderful time was had by all. There was a raffle as well for a golf cart, which I didn’t win, but I enjoyed it nevertheless–especially taking the photos.
VBS 2018
I took the photos for the VBS 2018. It was a lot of work but fun. I tried to capture the spirit of the event by getting as many group shots of all the participants
as I could.
Wedding Doug and Deniss
I photographed a wedding with two other photographers. Two did primarily videos and I did all the still shots. I took about 680 photos but ended up using about 115. They were a lovely couple that met on Match.com. They were about to give up but decided to try one more time. The bride’s family came from Mexico for the wedding, but the food was good old fashioned, down home BBQ. The ceremony was outdoors and we were not sure if the weather would hold or not, but it did. All week it called for rain but the wedding day arrived and there was no rain. Here are just a few highlights.
Redcliffe Plantation
I went to Redcliffe Plantation in South Carolina, with my friend Joyce, who was my model. It was a nice day in January 2017. I took some landscapes as well as a couple of memorable portraits of Joyce, who was very cooperative.
Phinizy Swamp 2017 People
Here are a few more pictures taken at Phinizy Swamp in December 2017. These pictures have more people than the previous entry. Pat, Wayne, and Gabriel.
