Daisies, Mums, and Fruit

March 4, 2022 by Marilyn Botta

I decided to complete my Still Life series with some daisies, mums, and fruit. I am fascinated by beautiful flowers and setting up a scene utilizing items on hand. It can be never ending, since I create my own reality. Sometimes my own reality is much more palatable then the real thing. Living in a beautiful fantasy world, where there are no wars, or outside horrors of the day, is a wonderful way to live.

Peruvian Lilies and Fruit Still Lifes

February 12, 2022 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I did some Still Lifes of Peruvian Lilies (aka Alstroemeria)–orange and yellow. I photographed these gorgeous flowers using many different backgrounds and vases; some using textures taken against a white background and some against a black backdrop. I used oranges, pears, and grapes. The photos are similar but different. I love the textures but also the ones with the black background–it is a matter of personal preference. They would look beautiful hanging on anyone’s wall, especially on a canvas. Any of these can be converted to a canvas. Enjoy!

I decided to do some still-lifes of beautiful mums (Chrysanthemums) along with pears, and lemons and a basket. I also did some photos using a chair as well. These are gorgeous flowers that I never knew the name of.

I took some Still Lifes of beautiful sunflowers, corn, and fruit in September 2021. I took these against a white background and used a texture.

Red Roses and Oranges

I purchases a new macro lens and decided to take some macro shots of oranges and red roses. It is so beautiful to see a rose with water droplets close up. Red roses are the most beautiful flower in my estimation.

Acorn Squash

November 12, 2020 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

Just a different look at a simple item. I decided to take some still life pictures of acorn squash. You never know how lovely just an ordinary object can be until you place it in the right position and the right light. So, ordinary acorn squash becomes extraordinary.

Green Grapes Still Life and Macro

November 10, 2020 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I created a still life of green grapes, vases, wine glass, and apple. I then used a macro lens to get up close on the grapes.  It creates a totally different perspective.

Still Life Photography

October 4, 2020 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

Due to the pandemic, it has been increasingly hard to find human beings to photograph. I do love portrait photography, especially in the studio. I can also take outdoor photos of people as well. I love landscapes and you don’t need people for that. But, lately I have discovered that I love to create my own scenes–my own private reality. I get a picture in my mind and I can create it in the studio with some props. I found numerous props (vases, cups, glass bowl, silver vase, bottle, a wine glass, etc.) for almost nothing at all at Good Will. It is hit or miss and the other day I hit the mother load and found lots of items I was prepared to get at a regular store. Here are some of my most recent visions as seen in my head.
