I took the photos for the VBS 2018. It was a lot of work but fun. I tried to capture the spirit of the event by getting as many group shots of all the participants
as I could.
I photographed a wedding with two other photographers. Two did primarily videos and I did all the still shots. I took about 680 photos but ended up using about 115. They were a lovely couple that met on Match.com. They were about to give up but decided to try one more time. The bride’s family came from Mexico for the wedding, but the food was good old fashioned, down home BBQ. The ceremony was outdoors and we were not sure if the weather would hold or not, but it did. All week it called for rain but the wedding day arrived and there was no rain. Here are just a few highlights.
Supermoon 2018 – My friend Fran called me to ask me to go with her to Savannah Rapids early in the morning of the lunar eclipse to capture the beautiful large, bright, moon I arrived at her house at 5 am with my camera and tripod. I didn’t think it was going to be so cold but my car registered in the 20s. I was not dressed for the cold weather and had no hat or gloves (couldn’t because I needed my hands to hold tripod and 150-600 long lens). I captured some amazing images later in the morning when there were some semblances of light around the moon. Almost had frostbite on my hands, but luckily it all worked out and here are a couple of the best shots.
I met my friend Pat the other day at Phinizy Swamp. She came with her hubby and her grandson, Gabriel. I didn’t think there would be any new pictures to take, since I have been there numerous times, but there is always a new take on a picture. I found myself taking pictures of things I hadn’t done before, or maybe the same thing, but using a different angle to create something original. It’s very nice to visit the same place a few times during the year to get a different perspective.
