Mardi Gras Masks

May 6, 2024 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I came upon these two Venetian masks in Goodwill. I was drawn to them and felt these beauties would make an unusual and vibrant image. These pair of Venetian-style masks are displayed prominently, one adorned with colorful details and the other in a stark black and white motif. A bouquet of red alstroemeria flowers and a single red rose add a vibrant touch to the composition, while a lit red candle provides a warm glow from the side. I placed the red candle atop an hourglass containing white sand. I photographed this arrangement against a white backdrop and added a lovely blue texture to create an etherial, otherworldly look.

All of these are somewhat similar, but different. Some have skulls, some have flowers or candles, yet all show the beauty of the masks displayed different forms.

Arts in the Hearts Festival

October 3, 2018 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

Augusta, Georgia hosts a wonderful cultural festival each year featuring different foods from every culture and ethnic group you can think of. It is a celebration of diversity and people come together to sample different cuisines they would normally not eat. There are tents set up to eat and there is music as well. Here are a few shots of the day on October 16th, 2018. It threatened to rain the whole time but held off until towards the end. All in all it was a very enjoyable day.

Photos taken at the Hispanic Festival in Augusta, GA.

Lots of ethnic amazing food, Pina Coladas, dancing, and fun for all who attended. A beautiful day in Augusta, Ga for everyone who is Latin or just loves Hispanic culture. It was unusually hot for October (92) but that didn’t stop fans of the Hispanic Festival, vendors, and dancers from celebrating the Hispanic culture, very rich and enduring.
