The pictures here were all taken around the Augusta area, usually around sunset. I find the best time to take these types of images is just at dusk.
St Simon’s
Here are a few more shots at St. Simon’s Island of various sunsets and sunrises. In addition, the picture out of the window was taken inside the St. Simon’s lighthouse. The picture of the staircase was also taken looking up inside the lighthouse. These steps are very steep and challenging to navigate. I had to be very careful while climbing. The images here were edited more than the previous St. Simon’s photos with software so they look a bit different. Enjoy.
St. Simon’s Island
I went on a trip to St. Simon’s Island and stayed at a friend’s condo. Each morning I was me with the glorious sunrise right off the balcony. In the evening, the spectacular sunset was amazing. We collected shells on the beach every day. All and all it was a beautiful and restful time.

I was in the midst of an amazing sunset while I was in a lighting class. I know I should’ve been focused on the class (and I was) but I was very distracted by the gorgeous sunset that was unfolding. It was a cloudy day and had just rained and, in my opinion, that is the absolute best time to get sunsets. When it is too overcast, it is hard to get a good sunset shot, but when the sky is full of roiling billowy white and gray puffy clouds, the colors of red, gold yellow, and orange mix in the clouds creating an amazing image. The first few were taken after a rain in, of all places, a parking lot. The next batch were taken at Brick Pond Park about 7:30 – 8 pm on a Saturday night. Beauty can be seen anywhere and a few of these were taken right in my neighborhood at sunset.
Landscapes
These landscapes were taken in various locations in Augusta, Ga. Some of the others were taken on my trip to Naples, Fla, while visiting my grandson, Aaron. I intend to add lots more photos as I start my travels, which is one of my goals. Life is a journey and documenting it in photos is everlasting.
