Monroe and Stephen

June 22, 2022 by Marilyn Botta

In early June 2022, I asked a lovely couple, Monroe and Stephen, if they would be models for me in a studio shoot. They agreed and I had a wonderful day with them. They were such good models because it was so natural and they barely needed any prompting. You can see the true love in these pictures. It was such a pleasure doing this photoshoot. I used both a black and a white background. The black background I made into black and white. I did this is a Low Key way. The white background I added a color texture  for the background. Here are the ones I liked the most.

Susan

I did a photo shoot of my friend, Susan. She came with all kinds of different props such as a flowered wreath for her hair. I supplied the large hat. It was a fun day. I had some beautiful chrysanthemums that added some beauty to the shoot. She also brought her camera which I photographed in low key. All other pictures were shot against a white backdrop and I added textures in Photoshop post processing.

Peruvian Lilies and Fruit Still Lifes

February 12, 2022 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I did some Still Lifes of Peruvian Lilies (aka Alstroemeria)–orange and yellow. I photographed these gorgeous flowers using many different backgrounds and vases; some using textures taken against a white background and some against a black backdrop. I used oranges, pears, and grapes. The photos are similar but different. I love the textures but also the ones with the black background–it is a matter of personal preference. They would look beautiful hanging on anyone’s wall, especially on a canvas. Any of these can be converted to a canvas. Enjoy!

I took some Still Lifes of beautiful sunflowers, corn, and fruit in September 2021. I took these against a white background and used a texture.

Sunflowers

January 15, 2021 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I discovered some gorgeous sunflowers at Kroger recently. I thought they’d make some beautiful photos in the studio. I staged them on a white and then black background. On the white, I added in Photoshop, a texture. On the black background – no texture. I like how they came out. I tried several textures. I even took a self-portrait smelling the sunflower.

Flowers in Studio 2020

April 22, 2020 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I set out to photograph some lilies and other pink flowers with fruit. I decided to add this to its own post since I wanted to highlight the flowers. The pink flowers bloom on  a bush in front of my house but I don’t know their name. They bloom every year. I added some different textures to show how the same photo can be changed with different backgrounds. I also set the lily up on the silver platter to show the reflections.

Food and Flowers in Studio

April 22, 2020 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

Since we are in a lockdown due to the Pandemic, I have been coming up with creative photo ideas in my studio. What do I like most?–Food and flowers! So, I set out to make some fruit plates with cheese. I put everything on this silver plate that I got from Hobby Lobby as a prop some time ago and never used. I added a lovely lily that had bloomed in a vase at home. The resulting images are just what I had envisioned.

I also took some photos of the same lily and added different textures as backgrounds. It is amazing how a background can make the same image look different.

Red Roses in Studio

May 8, 2019 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I found some beautiful red roses and decided to play with them in the studio. Some are just with a white background, and some I added a texture for color. I put the roses into the tea cup for a different effect. I really liked the results.

Dog Photography

I attended a dog photography workshop a few weeks ago. We had three models, Teddy, Annabelle, and Baylee. Baylee was the most model-friendly because she has been posing for years. One could say she is a diva.
