I decided to create an image with skulls being the stars. I came across an unusual gold skull and decided to add it to the other two skulls I have. To enhance the eerie quality of this composition, I added a dark orange texture. For a more dramatic effect I added several different sized lit candles. I had an old child’s hat that fit perfectly on the gold skull’s head.
I thought it only fitting that I do a Halloween themed image. I decided to photograph this scene agains a black backdrop to give it a spooky and eerie quality. I always seem to get some flowers into many of my creations. These pink lilies add a pretty pop of color, as does the bright orange candle. The brown pewter candle holder enhances the color of the beautiful textured candle. I placed a small skull atop a green glass vase. A scorpion and mini pumpkins complete my the eerie atmosphere and my vision.
I went up to New Jersey to see my grandchildren and my son. On Wednesday I decided to take the NJ Transit train into Manhattan (Penn Station) to take some street photography. There are so many photo opportunities in Manhattan, especially in the 34th Street area, around Penn Station. I spent about 1 and half hours taking photos of unsuspecting people. A few people, especially a street vendor, objected but he let me go. I enjoyed soaking in the atmosphere and reminiscing about when I used to be one of those people, rushing around, and glad I am not that person now. It was still loads of fun and I think I got lots of great shots.
I decided to venture downtown to Broad Street–a spot I usually don’t go to. I had been to The New Moon Cafe a few days before without my camera, but the ambiance and color of that street intrigued me. It is a very different atmosphere–almost like Greenwich Village in NYC–than uptown where everything is pretty much homogenous.
