Self-Portraits

March 14, 2022 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

It has been 7 months since I finished chemotherapy, in which I lost my nice hair. Now, after 7 months it is starting to look like an actual hairstyle, albeit not what I ultimately want. It is a work in progress. I thought I’d take some self-portraits to show I can still look pretty good, even after everything I’ve been through. I like to take my own photos because I know exactly how to pose to look good plus I can do editing to achieve the ultimate result I am looking for. The photos are similar but different due to different backdrops and different lighting.

Musician Portraits

I did a photo shoot of a musician friend of mine, Curt. I love doing low-key photography of musicians. I went to his house and positioned my lighting so he would come out mysterious and dark. I love the guitar and took many images of him playing.

Self Portraits

I decided to take some self-portraits in my home studio using strobe lights. I set the camera on a tripod, fixed the lighting, and used the shutter release. It was not easy getting myself at the right height, but finally, success.

Ladies Tea 2017

May 24, 2017 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I took some pictures in West Town Community Church for a Ladies Tea in May. It was a bit challenging because of the poor lighting in the auditorium and the wide open space. I used strobe lighting and a speed light. Here are the results. It was a fun day although a little stressful.
