I recently purchased a pretty blue vase at Goodwill. Someone discarded it but I picked it up and decided to use it for some studio still life photos with beautiful flowers. Someone else’s trash can become someone’s treasure. Here are four images using the blue vase, some similar, yet different. I decided to use lemons and yellow lilies in a wicker basket, some I used purple poms and oranges, in a glass beaker, as well as grapes. I used black backgrounds on some and one I added a texture.
Daisies, Poms, and Pink Lilies
I love adding flowers to my Still Lifes. I decided to get some purple daisies, pink poms, and pink lilies. I added in some unusual props such as a skull that I picked up for Halloween. As usual, fruit plays a big part of the picture and the green apple blends well with the green part of the daisies.
Daisies, Mums, and Fruit
I decided to complete my Still Life series with some daisies, mums, and fruit. I am fascinated by beautiful flowers and setting up a scene utilizing items on hand. It can be never ending, since I create my own reality. Sometimes my own reality is much more palatable then the real thing. Living in a beautiful fantasy world, where there are no wars, or outside horrors of the day, is a wonderful way to live.
Sunflowers and Fruit Still Lifes
I took some Still Lifes of beautiful sunflowers, corn, and fruit in September 2021. I took these against a white background and used a texture.
Food and Flowers in Studio
Since we are in a lockdown due to the Pandemic, I have been coming up with creative photo ideas in my studio. What do I like most?–Food and flowers! So, I set out to make some fruit plates with cheese. I put everything on this silver plate that I got from Hobby Lobby as a prop some time ago and never used. I added a lovely lily that had bloomed in a vase at home. The resulting images are just what I had envisioned.
I also took some photos of the same lily and added different textures as backgrounds. It is amazing how a background can make the same image look different.
