I love the way pears come in all shapes and sizes. I think they make the prettiest photos of all the fruits. I placed three Bosc pears on a black reflective table and added a tall green lit candle to this arrangement. I photographed this lovely scene against a black backdrop using strobe lighting in my studio. The result is a beautiful composition with moody undertones.
Green Hat and Yellow Pears
I placed a green hat, on a patterned cloth, resting against a wrought iron candle holder. I added a green lit candle on the holder, and three Bosc pears on the cloth. To complete the scene I added a black chess piece. This arrangement was photographed against a black backdrop and a black table. The elements of this composition really stand out against the dark background with reflections.
Purple Lilies and Yellow Pears
I wanted to create a composition using pears. I found beautiful purple lilies and added them to a green glass vase. I placed a green lit candle on a wrought iron stand beside the lilies. I added a clay pot and lastly two yellow pears. I completed the scene by adding a beautiful blue background giving this arrangement a harmonious visual with soft lighting and earthy tones.
Three Ripe Strawberries
I bought some beautiful ripe red strawberries to eat as a snack. However, because they were so pretty, I decided to line them up and take pictures. I decided to photograph them in my studio using strobe lighting, on a black table, against a black backdrop.
Green Apples and Orange Lily
I had some gorgeous orange lilies that I had used in another image. I created two images, one against a black backdrop, and the other against a white backdrop. Both were created in my studio with strobe lighting. It is so amazing how different they both are, yet so similar. The colored version was achieved by adding a complementary colored texture in post-processing to bring out the beauty of this lovely arrangement.
Peeled Mandarin Orange
I decided to photograph a macro shot of a Mandarin orange against a black background. I arranged the sections of this peeled orange to display their vibrant and juicy interiors. The contrast between the orange segments and the dark background highlights the fruit’s natural texture and color and gives this image a dramatic flair.
Three Green Pears
I gathered three ripe pears in my studio and arranged them in a row against a black and then white backdrop. Each image has a different feel to it. Not sure which I like better. All these images were taken in studio. The colors on the second image were added as a texture. The image against the black backdrop were arranged on a shiny black table. Their vibrant green color and smooth, glossy surface give them a fresh and appetizing appearance. They look good enough to eat.
Candles and Pears
I did a number of similar still life images–similar but different. They all utilize the candles of green and orange, but the vases are different. I used the tall blue vase in some and the red vase in others. Although the theme is similar, they stand on their own as a separate piece of art.
Hydrangea, Pears, and Plums
I have never used hydrangeas in a photo before and wanted to see how it would look. I came upon some in a store and thought I would somehow incorporate these delicate blue flowers into a still life. I had a pretty wicker basket at home already and decided that some brown Bosc pears and red plums would complement the gorgeous colors of the hydrangeas. I set this up and decided that a black backdrop would create a perfect contrast to the vivid flowers and fruit. I was pleased with the composition. I was about to give up for the day when suddenly I got a brain storm and this whole creation fell into place. Luckily I persisted.
Orange Lilies, Ukulele, and Pears
I purchased some beautiful orange lilies. I decided to use them in some Still Life photos featuring a green hat, green vases, Bosc pears, and a ukulele my friend loaned me. I photographed these images against a black background so they would pop. I rather like them and I sure hope you do too.
