Pink Lilies and Limes

January 6, 2026 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

In creating this still life, I wanted to use beautiful contrasting colors to bring out the green of the limes, and the vase. I added the pink lilies to the glass vase, and placed the limes into the goblet one by one. I added a black and white ceramic jug along with a black chess piece. This beautiful arrangement was placed on a green and white cloth. To complete the theme, I created a bluish, green texture for the background.

Pink Lilies and Apples

I wanted to create a rustic composition that had both warmth and elegance. I assembled a pretty glass red vase and added pink lilies. I matched the red vase with a lit red candle on a pewter holder. I added red apples spilling out of a wicker basket. I then arranged these gorgeous elements on a green cloth for contrast. I added a complementary texture to highlight the beauty of this composition.

Oranges in Glass with Hydrangeas

November 29, 2025 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I wanted to create an inviting scene using mandarin oranges and a beautiful martini glass. I placed four oranges inside the greenish glass and added two small oranges at the base. I added a large orange at the base as well. A lit orange candle sits beside the oranges. I enhanced the background by adding a warm texture. The result is a simple picture that exudes warm lighting and gives the scene a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

The next image is similar but instead of a candle, I place purple hydrangeas into a terracotta pot. Again, I added a warm and inviting background to enhance the beauty of the main image.

What says Halloween more than pumpkins and skeletons. I placed some mini pumpkins in a glass goblet. A rich orange pumpkin and a small cross-legged skeleton sit together. A lit orange candle on an iron candle-holder adds warmth to this autumn themed scene. I photographed this against a white backdrop and added a greenish texture post-processing.

Pumpkins and Yellow Lilies

It is Fall and what says Fall other than orange pumpkins. I placed mini pumpkins into a martini glass, and added a green wax candle with flame. Yellow lilies in a green glass vase completed the basic composition. I then added a light blue texture for the background, which creates a warm and cozy scene.

Pumpkin and Skulls

October 13, 2025 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I decided to create an image depicting the beautiful autumn colors of Halloween. I also decided to add some spookiness to this gorgeous scene by using some skulls. Nothing says Halloween like scary skulls. Of course I had to include a lovely little orange pumpkin. Orange lilies, and a thick orange lit candle all captured against a black backdrop depict the magic of Halloween.

I placed some mandarin oranges into a goblet. I added some gorgeous orange lilies into a blue glass vase. I placed a terracotta pot on the side for a rustic touch. I photographed this against a white backdrop and added textures to give this photo a painted look.

Golden Light on Tree Trunk

September 15, 2025 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

In the early morning I pass this tree on the way out of my community. On a sunny day, the sun just illuminates the tree, making it look almost two dimensional–but only in the morning. By the afternoon, it is just the one shade. I decided to capture this beautiful transformation one day, waking up early just to get the light just right. It is amazing the things you see by paying attention. This composition captures the serene beauty of a natural landscape.

Hospice Photo Shoot – Jean

September 15, 2025 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I went to Brandon Wilde, a senior living development, to do a special photo shoot of a lovely lady celebrating her 100th birthday. Her name is Jean. What made it so special was that all her three children and their spouses came. She was amazingly pretty and quite cognizant – she wanted to see the pictures in my camera right after they were taken. To get to be 100 is quite an accomplishment, but to be 100 and look so much younger and vibrant is miraculous.

Peeled Mandarin Orange

August 11, 2025 by Marilyn Botta Leave a Comment

I decided to photograph a macro shot of a Mandarin orange against a black background. I arranged the sections of this peeled orange to display their vibrant and juicy interiors. The contrast between the orange segments and the dark background highlights the fruit’s natural texture and color and gives this image a dramatic flair.
